BOY SCOUTS

SCOUTING

If you want to know about Cub & Boy Scouts programs, simply scroll down a bit further.

Boy Scout Leaders, get your merit badge requirements fulfilled here. We offer a great program for your Boy Scouts to earn their Aviation and Weather Merit Badges. Our programs include Museum Admission, Fulfillment of Badge Requirements*, Museum Patch and Tour of the Museum’s Collection of Famous Aircraft and Historic Dioramas.

*Scouts should “Be Prepared”, which means they should read the Merit Badge Book and complete the Merit Badge worksheet PRIOR to arriving at the Museum. We like to emphasize that while we can help them to attain the goal, they must EARN the merit badge. The Weather Merit Badge has some requirements that must be fulfilled by the Scout on his own, apart from the Museum program.

$14: Aviation OR Weather Merit Badge Programs consist of the Guided Tour (1 hr), a Hands on Activity (30 mins) and the Flight Simulator Lab (1.5 hrs). During this time our Tour Guides will ensure the various requirements are covered and reinforced throughout your visit.

$21: Combine the Aviation and Weather Merit Badges together

We recommend you bring a sack lunch to eat during your break.

A typical program is listed below. Although we open at 9:30 am, we can often accommodate Scout groups up to 30 mins before opening time if you request it.

SCOUTS CAN FLY with our Soar High Programs:

A class in the Soar High Center is a great opportunity for Scouts (2nd grade or above) to experience the challenges of learning to fly on our Flight Simulators.

Our Soar High Center is a Flight Simulator Lab that can accommodate 15 flight crews (30 students). Add the class for an additional $7 per person and allow 1 hour and 30 mins to your visit. Our flight instructors are not only great “Virtual” pilots, several have also instructed both military and civilian flight students in real life. They will take your students through ground school: principles of flight, map reading, cockpit instrumentation and a preflight briefing on the route of flight and flight controls familiarization. Then your students will "take flight", navigate to an airport and land the aircraft.
