NOMINATION GUIDELINES

This form is to be used for the submission of all nominations for the Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame. The form may be reproduced as necessary. If needed, additional copies may be obtained from the Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame at 4343 73rd Street North, Birmingham, Alabama 35206, or by contacting Dr. Brian J. CRITERIA

The Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame was established by the Alabama Legislature “To promote and encourage the growth and public support of aviation, especially general aviation, within the state by providing official and public recognition and honor to individuals, living or dead, who by extraordinary achievement and service have made outstanding and substantial contributions to aviation in Alabama. Persons to receive such recognition may be residents of the state who receive national recognition for aviation achievements elsewhere, or non-residents who contributed directly to aviation in this state.” Any person or group may nominate an individual for consideration for induction into the Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame.

SUBMISSION

Any person may submit a nomination directly to the Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame Board of Directors for consideration. Nomination packages should be forwarded by mail to the Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame, 4242 73rd Street North, Birmingham, Alabama 35206. Receipt of these nominations will be acknowledged by the Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame. Please note that nomination materials, including photographic images, will not be returned.

DOCUMENTATION

    SELECTION OF INDUCTEES

  1. Copies of all nominations will be provided to the members of the Board of Directors of the Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame. A preliminary review will be conducted to ensure that all nominees are eligible for consideration.

  2. Nominee eligibility is based on the following considerations:

  3. Resident of Alabama making substantial contributions to aviation in Alabama, or

  4. Resident of Alabama receiving recognition for substantial contributions to aviation outside of the State of Alabama, or

  5. Non-resident who receives recognition for substantial contributions within the State of Alabama.

  6. During subsequent reviews, nominees are evaluated on the following considerations:

  7. Contributions to aviation in Alabama;

  8. Recognition received for contributions to aviation outside of Alabama;

  9. General aviation activity / accomplishments;

  10. Military aviation service;

  11. Years of aviation service;

  12. Aviation records / first occurrences;

  13. Name recognition within the aviation community;

  14. Availability of supporting documentation;

  15. Overall influence on aviation in Alabama;

Other considerations (Specific contributions not addressed that deserve special consideration).

INDUCTION
Nominees selected for induction will be honored during ceremonies held during the Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame Induction Banquet. The Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame is located in the upper tier of the Southern Museum of Flight, 4343 73rd Street North, Birmingham, Alabama 35206.
